Heavy Industrial Military District by SoFDMC Heavy Industrial Military District by SoFDMC
Frank Keplacki's 'Industrial.mp3' of Command and Conquer: Tiberian Dawn was helpful in inspiring this drawing. Music here: [link]

The story behind this region is that this was once enemy held region, with the heavy industry behind making tanks at least five times bigger than those used by the current occupying force (aka the 'Allied Forces'). The Allies have modified the factory equipment to mass produce their own tanks and ammunition.

Newly manufactured main battle tanks parked in the foreground, mass production of new tanks in the far background.

The railway gun (runs on 4 rails) near the blast furnace is captured enemy equipment, the 9 armored diesel engines (Panzerzugs, info here: [link]) are the Allied Forces' own.

The desert climate continent they are on is still being fought over in a nearby region (where the Allied Forces air units are headed), so tactical headlights are a must for all vehicles.

Damage from the battle to take over the industry is still visible, as well as makeshift repairs.

The Hummvee at the lower foreground appears to sink as it is on lower ground while the trains are running on a raised railbed to distribute the massive loads.

Daylight condition is evening.

Update 26/05/2012: Added a couple of soldiers playing poker, white hot steam escaping from steam generators behind the blast furnace, piles of rubble, wear and tear and rust on the armor trains, lights in the factory, and worn out rails from frequent use. I decided to keep it to two personnel so that they don't steal the limelight of the towering war machines around them.

Update 24/06/2012: Updated with feedback

I love how the guards sitting at the foot of the rails of that massive juggernaught train are down there playing go fish or something xD

Beautiful and very foot to life at the sheer size of these war machines

The size had to be put into perspective with the personnel. They are playing poker but its partially hidden by their rifles. The story behind it is the enemy factory used for making much larger sized equipment has recently been captured after a fierce battle. This was vital to build entire new armies of tanks as the initial landing force, while large enough to secure the factory and other first objectives, are insufficient for taking back the rest of the continent still under enemy control. The Air Cavalry (technically aircraft but as helicopters with lower flight altitudes they work more closely with ground units) are off to create trouble to keep the enemy from retaking back the factory.

Also small details like the differently styled traffic lights on the extreme left and tanks with automated turrets (no hatches) give a clue this is another world.

Thanks for the fave.

Lol. Remember the old Command and Conquer 1 when you couldn't queue units.

My favorite dbzmatt from DavidIcke.com forum. Good work I like the 2 playing poker shows scale and how intricate the piece is.

That's the idea. The theme being despite being heavily damaged the war effort goes on with what is still working.

Reminds me of full metal alchemist mixed with Command and Conquer and all those 90's arcad eshooters like Battle Garegga.

I looked up Battle Garegga and I kind of thought that other drawing of the Hammerhead would belong in there, since its about fighting aircraft the size of cities. Has that retro feel about it that I like.

Thanks for the feedback.

This image is already four times in dimensions to that of a 1280x1024. In fact I had your previous request to enlarge the Flying Battleship (Hammerhead) in mind when doing this to similar dimensions. Any larger and my graphics card starts running into problems when the details and layers start piling up.

Thanks. Armored trains tend to be lacking in detail except perhaps camouflage due to the outer armor layers.
